This one is alot lighter than most designs in the shop -- density 119 and a maximum of 4,092 stitches at the largest 4.6-inch size. Thats a feature, not a gap. The wings come out with a delicate, almost sketchy quality that suits the subject perfectly. Suprised by how much character you can pack into under 2,100 stitches at the small end. Nine sizes go from 2.14 to 4.6 inches wide, so its fine for a bookmark-width panel or a full front of a fabric pencil case.
Five colours total: the cream page fill, warm tan covers, muted gold spine detail, soft blue wings, and navy outlines. Pick matching bobbins for the cream and blue fills -- at low density like this the bobbin shows through more than youd expect on thinner fabrics. Use a light tearaway stabiliser on woven cotton; this design doesnt need anything heavy. Skip the cutaway entirely on firm quilting cotton.
I get messages from teachers and librarians about this one more than almost any other design -- bookmarks stitched on ribbon, tote bags for classroom book swaps, fabric labels on homemade book sleeves. One reader wrote me last month to say she put the 2.14-inch version on a set of fabric bookmarks she was selling at a school fair and recieved nothing but compliments. Text me through the shop if you want the files in a specific format checked before you stitch.
Pair this with a light linen or cotton muslin for the softest result. Wash gently after stitching -- at density 119 the threads arent as locked in as a dense design, so a cool gentle cycle is the right call. One last thing. Press from the reverse side after washing. Text me a quick note if you need the file in a particular machine format and Ill send the right version your way.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Fabric bookmark ribbon embroideryStitch the 2.14-inch size on a 2-inch grosgrain ribbon bookmark using light tearaway; low density keeps the ribbon supple.
- Library tote bag front panelPlace the 4-in design on a canvas library tote front with light tearaway; five colours read clearly on natural canvas.
- Teachers pencil case embroideryUse the 3-inch size on a cotton pencil case front with tearaway stabiliser; the airy finish suits the school-supply aesthetic.
- Classroom book sleeve fabric labelStitch the 2.5-inch run on cotton muslin book sleeve label using light tearaway; navy outlines stay crisp on white fabric.
- Kids backpack patch placementPlace the 2.14-inch size on a woven backpack patch fabric with tearaway then iron-on adhesive backing for heat application.
- Cotton gift wrap fabric designUse the 3.5 mini on cotton fabric gift wrap at repeat intervals with tearaway backer; density 119 doesnt stiffen the fabric.
- Reading pillow centre embroideryCentre the 4.6-inch size on a cotton reading pillow front using medium tearaway; all five colours show well on pale grey.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
