After my niece spent a whole weekend rereading the same book on my couch with our cat curled on her lap, I knew Id to digitise the scene. The proportions took me three tries to get right, the cats tail kept fighting the girls leg in the layering. The mug got added last cause the floor felt empty without it.
The pack 9 sizes ranging from 3.5 scaling to 7.5 inches wide, stitch counts running 15,241 up to 45,815 on the biggest hoop. 15 colours total. The girls sweater uses two mustard shades for the directional shading, the jeans get a denim wash effect, the tabby has cream, grey, and warm brown stripes, and the book covers a soft sage green. Density is 885 spi which keeps the small face details from blurring. The mug steam wisp is the lightest colour, almost cream. Heres how Ive been pricing the bulk runs.
Use cutaway backing. Hoop nice and firm. Pop a fresh sharps 11 needle in. Skip topping when youre stitching on something pile-heavy like terry. The stitch order goes background floor first, then jeans, sweater, hair, cat, book, mug, and the face details and tea steam at the very end.
One thing about this design. The cat eyes and the small mouth line stitch last so any tension issue earlier in the file wont mess up the most expressive part of the piece. Text me if the embroidery hits an error on the format and ill convert it for you.
