After my niece spent a whole weekend rereading the same book on my couch with our cat curled on her lap, I knew Id to digitise the scene. The proportions took me three tries to get right, the cats tail kept fighting the girls leg in the layering. The mug got added last cause the floor felt empty without it.
The pack 9 sizes ranging from 3.5 scaling to 7.5 inches wide, stitch counts running 15,241 up to 45,815 on the biggest hoop. 15 colours total. The girls sweater uses two mustard shades for the directional shading, the jeans get a denim wash effect, the tabby has cream, grey, and warm brown stripes, and the book covers a soft sage green. Density is 885 spi which keeps the small face details from blurring. The mug steam wisp is the lightest colour, almost cream. Heres how Ive been pricing the bulk runs.
Use cutaway backing. Hoop nice and firm. Pop a fresh sharps 11 needle in. Skip topping when youre stitching on something pile-heavy like terry. The stitch order goes background floor first, then jeans, sweater, hair, cat, book, mug, and the face details and tea steam at the very end.
One thing about this design. The cat eyes and the small mouth line stitch last so any tension issue earlier in the file wont mess up the most expressive part of the piece. Text me if the embroidery hits an error on the format and ill convert it for you.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Book club tote bagBook-club tote bag for a monthly reading group meeting in a bookshop back room; my customer ordered eight for member welcome packs.
- Library themed cushionLinen cushion cover front for a reading-nook armchair, the directional shading on the sweater catches afternoon window light.
- Reading nook wall hangingWall-hanging wall piece with rod hardware for a bedroom alcove, two cutaway layers give the linen enough body to hang square.
- Sweatshirt centre printReads as cosy rather than nostalgic-twee, which a librarian customer said in her message to me fifteen sweatshirt fronts for her staff.
- Throw blanket cornerFleece throw-blanket corner two inches in from the edge, topping under the cat-stripe layer stops the brown fur sinking into pile.
- Library bag panelCanvas library-bag panel stitched before handle assembly, the placement holds the strap-join cleanly underneath the lower hem.
- Cosy quilt centre blockQuilt-block centre for a cosy reading-nook bedspread; my niece picked the colours then helped lay out the bookish patchwork borders.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
