"God Bless America" canvas totes were basically made for this. Three flag bows across the top, all done in navy, red and cream satin stitch with directional stripe fills radiating out from the centre knot, white star clusters punched into the navy half of each bow. Below the bows sits flowing navy cursive, then bold red block caps underneath spelling out the song line. Its got that proud, patriotic feeling without being too stiff about it, the bows keeping things soft and a bit feminine. I made one last week for a 4th of july gift and honestly it looked like something you'd pay alot for in a boutique.
Stitch density is high on this, around 990 stitches per inch at the fill sections, so hoop your canvas or twill tight and use a good cutaway stabiliser underneath or the stripes in the bow tails will pull. A crafter I know ordered the 7.5 inch onto a denim jacket back and those three bows stitched out beautifully across the american flag palette. Use topping on any textured fleece or terry cloth so the satin stripes dont sink into the loops. The 3.5 inch drops onto a baseball cap front without crowding the bill, which is handy when you want a quick patriotic gift set. Skip tear-away on stretchy jersey and go cutaway instead to keep the bow shapes crisp after washing. Theres alot of colour change happening in those bows so a cream bobbin thread underneath keeps the underside tidy. Iron the item flat before hooping so the underlay sits smooth from the first stitch.
Try the mid-size on a cotton twill apron bib with navy fabric and those cream star clusters really pop against the dark ground.
Give me a heads up if the bobbin thread shows on top.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
