She's got the tall hat, the flowing hair, the look that says she absolutely knows what shes doing. This witch lady is drawn with real character, not the cutesy round-head style and not the scary-ugly version either, but the kind of confident illustrated witch you'd put on something you actually want to wear past october. Seven colours at 7,570 stitches across a 2.55 x 3.5 inch footprint, density is 131 which stitches out clean without the heavy thread buildup you get with higher density designs.
Im particularly happy with how the directional fill on the hair came out, the satin strands run at an angle that makes it look like the hair has actual movement rather than just a flat coloured block. The hat brim uses a different fill angle to separate it visually from the hair below, and the face skin tone is the lightest colour in the seven-colour palette so it reads clear even at 2.55 inches wide. Use a medium-weight cutaway stabiliser on knit fabric; on woven cotton a standard tearaway is enough given the 131 density wont put too much pull on the fabric. The underlay in Wilcom was set for medium-weight cotton and that seems to be what most people are stitching onto.
I had a customer order this last july, yes july, because she was already planning her whole halloween wardrobe. She asked whether it would work on a silk blend scarf and the answer is yes with a water-soluble topping to keep the satin areas from sinking in. Pick your darkest thread colour for the hat first, its the biggest section and sets the overall tone. Stitch it on a tote, a shirt pocket area, a costume sash, the side of a canvas make-up bag, this one is versatile in the way that character designs just tend to be.
Cotton canvas and tearaway stabiliser gives the sharpest result at this size for most home machines.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
