Wide and low -- thats the shape of this one, and the proportions are what makes it work so well on kids items. The train runs 3.51 to 7.51 inches wide but only 1.94 to 4.16 inches tall, so it fits perfectly along the front hem of a onesie or across a bib without eating up the whole panel. Six colours, stitch count 8,023 at the smallest up to 17,755 at full size. Density 568, solid enough to read clearly on cotton knits without overloading them.
I digitised in Wilcom EmbroideryStudio and the colour sequence is straightforward: wheels and outlines first, then body fill, then windows, hearts, and smoke puffs last. That order means each colour sits on top cleanly rather than getting buried. Use a medium cutaway on a onesie or infant tee -- the knit will relax after washing and a tearaway wont hold long-term. Add a topping layer on any terry or waffle knit so the heart details dont sink into the loops.
One customer ordered this for a whole set of personalised baby shower gifts -- nine onesies in different sizes, all matching. She said the train stitched consistently across all of em with no registration issues between the carriages. I recieved that message a few months back and still think about it when I stitch the design out. Its kinda a perfect kids design. Pair with a simple name block above or below in your machine software to make it feel custom.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Baby onesie front hem train motifUse the 4-5 inch version along the front hem of a onesie; cutaway on the knit and a topping on any textured knit to keep the heart fills crisp.
- Toddler bib full front placementThe 5-inch version works well centred on a full-front bib on terry cloth; cutaway backing and water-soluble topping are both needed.
- Kids romper chest love trainOn a knit romper chest, the 4-inch size fits without crowding; use cutaway and slow stitch speed on soft baby jersey.
- Nursery wall hoop framed pieceStitch the 7-inch version on white or cream Aida cloth for a framed nursery hoop; the six colours read vividly on a neutral background.
- Children's sleep sack front panelThe 5-inch chest size on cotton sleep sack front panel; use medium cutaway on the knit and press gently from the reverse when done.
- Baby shower gift set personalisedFor a matching baby shower gift set, stitch the 3.5-4 inch version on sets of onesies, bibs, and burp cloths for a coordinated look.
- Kids cotton tee front placementOn a kids cotton tee, the 4.5 detail at front centre below the neckline; cutaway on knit, topping if the fabric has any texture.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
