These lips are not subtle. The upper and lower lip carry dense directional satin fill in a true red, and theres a soft lavender-grey area where the teeth peek through. White highlight stitches run across the upper lip to give it that glossy painted look, and the whole thing wraps in heavy black satin with short lash-like marks flicking outward at the corners. Its a lot of coverage in a small footprint, which is part of why the stitch count climbs alot toward the larger sizes.
The punch came from the digitising software on the underlay sequencing here, especially on the red fill sections where the colour blocks need to sit flat without pulling the fabric. Five colour stops in total: red base, a deeper red for shadow along the lower lip edge, white for the highlight, lavender for the teeth recess, and black for outline work. At 7.5 inches wide the stitching runs realy dense, so I recommend midweight cutaway under stretch fabrics, or a firm tearaway if youre putting this on a structured denim jacket.
I had a customer order this last month for a personalised makeup pouch and she said the red came out vivid on natural cotton canvas, no topping needed. Pop it on a black tee at the largest size and it reads from across the room. But honestly even the small 3.5 holds up fine on a cosmetic bag or a patch. Add an iron-on backing after stitching if you want it as a standalone piece.
Use a 80/12 needle for lighter fabrics and bump to a 90/14 if youre going through denim or thick canvas. Dont skip the bobbin thread colour match on the underside if the back will show, the density means theres alot of bobbin coverage at the bigger sizes.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
