Heres the smiling penguin and its got that soft sleepy baby vibe in 9 sizes. The little guy stands there with his eyes shut, head tipped slightly to one side, and a tiny smile under a round black beak. Two soft pink blush dots sit on the cheeks which honestly makes the whole piece.
The belly runs in a creamy off-white with thin sketchy shading lines so it doesnt look flat. I dropped the stitch density a bit on purpose so the cream area stays soft and a lil see-through, kinda like a pencil sketch. Across the top, dense satin in solid black with directional fill makes the feathers read sharp instead of one black blob.
I drew this one last winter for baby and nursery stuff. Customers grab the small 3.5 inch size for onesie pockets and bibs, and the 7.5 inch as the main panel on baby blankets or nursery cushions. One mum sent me a photo of hers on a wool toddler beanie and the soft cream belly looked dead-on against pale grey wool.
Stitch on smooth even fabric for cleanest detail. Cotton baby jersey, soft fleece, plain woven cotton all hold up nicely. Skip terry cloth or fluffy fabric on the smaller sizes since the face details get lost in the pile. Use a medium-weight cutaway stabiliser, especially on stretch jersey, so the dense black up top lays flat without puckers.
Run polyester thread for baby items so colours survive lots of wash cycles. If trial sew comes back muddy drop me a note and I will look at the file.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Baby onesies and bodysuitsCentred on the chest of a plain cotton onesie the sleepy penguin reads as adorable from across the room.
- Newborn bibs and burp clothsStitched on the corner of a soft cotton bib it survives the wash and stays cute through every feeding.
- Soft baby blanketsOn a fleece or cotton baby blanket the larger size becomes the main feature piece without overpowering it.
- Nursery cushion coversSet into the centre panel of a nursery cushion it ties in nicely with neutral animal themed decor.
- Winter beanies for toddlersStitched on a wool or fleece beanie the design stays soft and doesnt scratch the babys head.
- Baby shower gift towelsSewn on a small hand towel it makes a personal baby shower gift that feels handmade not store bought.
- Diaper bag patchesA smaller size works as a sweet little patch on the front pocket of a parents diaper bag.
- Stuffed toy accentsUse the tiniest size as a face badge sewn onto a homemade plush penguin or animal softie.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
