Made this one for the kids range last february after alot of requests for a proper dinosaur design. Not just a silhouette, but something with actual colour and personality. The stegosaurus here has seven colours going through it, burnt orange plates, golden yellow secondary plates, sage green body, a lighter cream belly, plus the outline layers. Stitch count runs from 16,612 at from petite 3 in up to 45,023 at 7.5 inches wide. Thats a dense fill and the satin work on those back plates is what takes the most time to digitise properly.
Heres the thing with dino designs and kids items: they go everywhere. Backpacks, little jackets, bibs, the brim of a toddler cap. Best results Ive had are on medium-weight cotton twill or fleece. Use a cutaway stabiliser underneath, especially if youre hooped onto stretchy fabric like a onesie. The directional satin on the back plates runs at opposing angles to give each plate its own dimension, so get your topping right and it pops really well. And dont rush the colour changes, there are 7 of them and each one matters to the overall look.
One customer ordered this on a set of 12 matching bibs for a dinosaur-themed birthday. She sent back photos and the detail on the plates was sharper than I expected at a 3.5 mini, which honestly suprised me a bit. So even the small version holds up fine if your machine is well-calibrated and your stabiliser is firm. Five sizes in total, 3.5 to 7 inch span. Pick whatever fits your hoop and your project. Hit me up if the file format doesnt open on your machine and Ill swap it for whichever one works for you.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Kids birthday party favour bagsStitch the 3.5 inch size on cotton muslin bags, cutaway stabiliser holds fine on lightweight fabric.
- Toddler backpack front panelFits perfectly on the front panel of a toddler backpack, use the 4.5 inch version.
- Boys denim jacket back yokeThe 7.5 inch size fills a back yoke nicely on denim, seven colour changes read sharp on indigo.
- Dinosaur-themed nursery decor pillowCentre the large size on a cotton canvas pillow cover, the bright plates show well against cream fabric.
- Baby onesie chest embroideryUse the 3.5 inch version on a onesie chest, topping film keeps the knit from distorting the fill.
- Kids baseball cap brim patchThe 4 inch size fits a standard cap brim, satin underlay prevents puckering on structured caps.
- Classroom reading cushionStitch the 6 inch version on velvet fabric with extra-firm cutaway for a classroom reading nook cushion.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
