Knocked out a full triceratops skeleton and Im properly pleased with how its come out. Its recognisably a triceratops, its not a generic dino silhouette, and thats whats worth paying for. The skulls massive relative to the body, which is accurate, and youve got the wide bony frill fanning out behind it, all three horns pointing forward, proper eye socket cutouts so its clearly a skull and not just a shaped blob. Theres a full ribcage, theres four legs with individual clawed toes, and the tails curving round toward the bottom of the design. Its a lot of detail and its all there.
Two colours, black and white. The bones are solid black fills and the gaps between ribs, between the frill ridges, between the horn pairs are all left white so youre getting that actual skeleton read and youre not just looking at a shadow of a shape. Its digitised in my embroidery software at 669 spi which gives is dense, so the filled sections are solid and theyre not gonna look washed out. Biggest sizes nearly 20 thousand stitches, so dont rush it, give your machine 25 to 30 minutes and itll be fine.
Ive got four sizes from 3.5 by 2.47 up to 6.5 by 4.59 inches. Its wide format, more landscape than portrait, and its working well across a shirt back or spread on a tote panel. Kids stuff is the obvious play but Ive had customers grab it for Halloween projects too, and honestly its the adult dino fans whos got the most excited about it. Theyre not apologising for it and they shouldnt. Grabbed loads last autumn. One customer ordered the large for her partner who has a palaeontology degree and she said he framed it in a hoop rather than stitching it onto anything.
Pick a light background. White, cream, grey, soft blue are all gonna make the black read clean and do the skeleton work justice. Dont put this on dark fabric or youll lose the white gap detail. Use medium to heavy cutaway given the density. Hoop firmly, dont rush the tension and itll be fine.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Kids dinosaur birthday tee or onesiePut the mid size on a white or grey kids tee for a birthday present, a triceratops skeleton reads way cooler than a cartoon dino to most 6 to 10 year olds
- Halloween costume or trick-or-treat bagStitch onto a black trick-or-treat tote for Halloween, the high contrast black and white skeleton pops against dark fabric perfectly
- School backpack patch for a dino-obsessed kidIron-on to a backpack patch blank for a school kid who corrects people on triceratops facts, theyll lose their mind over it
- Dino-themed nursery cushion or wall hoopPlace the small size on a cream cushion in a dino-themed nursery, it keeps the room looking put-together without going full plastic toy colours
- Mens or womens dino fan sweatshirtOne customer told me she ordered it for her boyfriend who has a palaeontology degree and treats dinosaurs with the respect they deserve
- Canvas pencil case or zipper pouch for schoolStitch on a grey canvas pencil case for a science-obsessed kid heading back to school, it fits the aesthetic without being babyish
- Palaeontology student or science teacher giftWorks as a gift for teachers who do prehistoric life units, personalised and a bit more interesting than the usual mug

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
