The unicorn stands perfectly still on the waterline, head lifted, tail out. Its clean, the body is mostly white with just enough fine-line grey detail to give the coat some dimension. Small horn at the top of the head, a short neat mane. Looks calm, composed, almost statue-like. Thats the top half.

Below the waterline is something else entirely. The reflection in the rippling rings doesnt show a calm unicorn, it shows a dark creature shape, elongated and distorted by the concentric water circles, more shadow beast than mirror image. The body stretches and warps in the lower half, the legs spreading out like roots or fins rather then reflecting cleanly. Its the kind of visual contrast that takes a second to register and then you cant unsee it. Thats what I hear from people who use it, everyone notices the duality the moment they see it properly.

Two colours only, white or very pale thread for the unicorn body above and solid black for the reflection and the water rings. Two stops, one per colour, so its a really simple thread run despite how detailed it looks. Stitch count goes up to 25k on the biggest size, 7.5 by 4.03 inches. Smallest is 3.5 by 1.88. Density is 837, medium weight, works well on most woven fabrics.

Light or white fabric lets the contrast work properly. Cream cotton, white canvas, soft ivory linen. Dont put it on dark fabric, the black reflection section just disappears and you lose the whole point of the design. Use a light tearaway under smooth woven cotton, medium cutaway if youre doing a sweatshirt or jersey. A fantasy gift shop owner who reordered this three times last autumn told me her regulars keep requesting it specifically. Place the medium on any light ground and hoop firmly, the concentric ring section needs a stable base. Dm me if the ripple rings pucker at the waterline and Ill shift the start point.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
