Heres the valentine heart with roses, but its set up as an open frame so theres a 5x7 blank space in the middle. Drop a name in there, a date, initials, a little phrase, or just leave it empty and let the red roses do the talking.
The heart itself is split, half red half black outline, which gives it a slightly editorial look. Not super sweet, not super cutesy. The rose on the bottom-left is fully filled in red and looks the most lush of the two. Top-right has a smaller rose with buds on a stem, more like a sketch, with bits of black leaf shading on that side to balance the design out.
I made this one with valentines day in mind first but its working really well for weddings, save-the-dates, and anniversary gifts. Last february a customer ordered the medium for a save-the-date hoop and dropped the wedding date inside in thin script, looked dead on.
Stitch on cotton, linen, or quilters muslin in cream or white so the red and black contrast pops. Hoop with a tearaway stabiliser at the back to stop the heart frame leaning while it sews. Skip flannel and dark fabric, the black outline disappears into anything navy or charcoal.
Add a name in the centre by leaving around half an inch clear inside the heart and picking a thin script font so the letters sit nice between the curves. Use polyester thread on towels or anything that gets washed alot, the colours hold up better than rayon over time.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Valentine pillow covers and table runnersCentred on a 16 inch valentine pillow this reads romantic without going overly cutesy.
- Bridal hoops with the couple's initials in the centreDrop the bride and groom initials inside the open heart in a thin script, real keepsake bridal hoop.
- Anniversary cards and framed hoop giftsPop a smaller size on a cream linen card front for an anniversary gift, frame after for the wall.
- Wedding ring bearer pillowsLooks really nice centred on a satin or quilters muslin ring bearer pillow, just hoop with tearaway.
- Hand towels and tea towels for the kitchenStitches clean on a cotton kitchen towel, leave the centre clear so the heart frame stays open.
- Tote bags for galentines or bridesmaid giftsPair with a tiny date inside on a galentines tote, makes a sweet bridesmaid proposal gift.
- Quilt blocks with a name added in the middleDrop a name in the centre of a quilt block and surround with simple red strips.
- Save-the-date hoop signs for engagement shootsFrame the medium size in a 8 inch hoop with the engagement date inside.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
