Unicorn head in profile with a spiral horn, a flowing mane that takes up a decent chunk of the design, and a heart woven into the composition. The proportions lean kawaii, the eye is big and cute, the mane has that over-the-top flowing section thats so fun to stitch. Not a realistic animal, its a cartoon valentine unicorn and it owns that completely.

4 colours total. The body and face are in a light base tone, the mane usually splits across 2 pastel shades, and the horn gets a warm gold or yellow. The mane is where the detail lives, layered satin sections with the strands going in different directions, which is what pushes the stitch count up to around 13,000 at the smallest size and about 31,000 stitches at 7.3 inches.

valentines day and unicorns is a combination that sells really consistently, Ive noticed that. People order this for kids obviously but also for adult crafters who just love the aesthetic, its a bigger market than youd think. A customer asked me last december if I had a christmas version, which tells you something about how attached people get to this design.

5 sizes from 3.4 to 7.3 inches wide. Cotton, canvas, fleece and soft minky all work well. Pair light cutaway everything, the mane fill areas are too dense for tearaway. Hoop firmly and check that the mane sections arent puckering at the edges between colour changes.

Slow down around the horn satin column and eye area, those fine detail sections need a lower speed to maintain clean edge definition. Pick good quality thread for the gold horn especially since cheaper metallic thread can shred on the tight satin columns.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids valentines day outfitsThe 5 inch centre placement on a white or pastel kids tee makes an adorable valentines day outfit girls will love.
  • Girls birthday gift teesFor a birthday gift stitch the 4-in motif on a plain cotton bag and pair it with a unicorn-themed filler.
  • Fantasy themed cushion coversA medium size on a lavender or blush cotton cushion cover creates a whimsical bedroom piece for a childs room.
  • Nursery hoop art on linenThe smaller size mounted in a 6 inch hoop on white linen makes a sweet nursery wall art piece.
  • Valentines unicorn tote bagsA 6-inch piece on a canvas tote with contrasting pink or gold thread makes a fun everyday unicorn bag.
  • Custom kids backpack patchesFor custom patches the smaller 3.4 inch size sits well on a backpack pocket without overpowering the bag.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
