A slim row of little open hearts linked up in a straight garland chain, repeating top to bottom. Theres no fill inside each heart, just the outline sitting clean against the white cotton fabric. Four colours from industry software, warm red and dusty rose doing most of the work with a cream accent and a thin soft gold outline holding the row together. Its a border design, not a centrepiece, so the stitch height tops out just under an inch even at the 7.5-inch wide size.

Border designs like this one dont get enough love. I started digitising them after my mum kept asking for something she could run along a hem without it looking stiff. Width spans 3.5 inch at smallest, 7.5 inch widest so you can lay it across a tea towel, a pillowcase edge, a tote rim, whatever needs a lil valentine flavour without shouting. Stitch counts stay light, between 1,505 and 3,976, so its quick to run and doesnt weigh down thin linen.

Last february a customer asked me if I had anything simple she could use on kraft paper gift bags, the kind you iron-on rather than stitch. I told her this one was her best bet because the open-outline hearts have clean separation between fills and dont bleed when theres minimal thread mass. She came back a week later saying she did six bags and people thought they were bought. Thats the kind of feedback that sticks with you.

Run this on cotton or linen for the cleanest result. Avoid stretchy fabrics because the horizontal spacing shifts on bias and the hearts wont align. Use a lightweight tearaway underneath since the density is low enough that cutaway would be overkill. Hoop taut, align the border to your seam guide before starting, and take the needle speed down abit so the directional stitching in the outlines stays crisp. Pop the smaller size along a collar edge or cuff on a navy kids valentine shirt for a really tidy finish.

Eight machine formats are in the download zip. Hit me if something doesnt load right and Ill sort it same day.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
