The whale tail is mid-dive, both flukes up and fully clear of the water, the peduncle narrowing down to where it vanishes into the chop. The flukes themselves are deep navy with a sky blue edge highlight running along the trailing curve of each lobe, thin strip of lighter blue that catches like a waterline. Under them the water surface is a mess of chunky layered wave shapes rendered in black and navy, loose horizontal lines that suggest real ocean chop rather than a pattern-fill.

Three colours: deep navy blue fills the main body of the tail with directional satin columns that follow the curve of the flukes, the pale blue trim runs the trailing edge at 344 stitches in the smallest size just enough to define the silhouette, and black handles the wave mass underneath. Density is a friendly 501 so the tail sits flat without stiffening the fabric. The fluke edges are done with satin column stitching so they have a clean outline even on looser weave fabrics.

Marine sanctuary shops and ocean-themed boutiques order this one consistently. I sell it aswell to people doing coastal home decor lines and beach resort gift shop stock. One customer in june wanted it for tote bags to sell at a whale watching tour counter, she ordered the medium 5.5-inch size and messaged me to say they sold out in a week. Dont overthink the placement, it works chest, bag, hat brim, all of em.

Stitch on white, cream, light grey or sand cotton and linen for the cleanest read. The navy and that lighter blue trim needs a pale background or the highlight stripe disappears into the base fabric. Avoid dark navy fabric for obvious reasons. Tearaway works fine on stable cotton canvas, cutaway if youre hooping a stretch jersey or bamboo-blend tee. Hoop the full stabiliser area and dont skimp on backing width, the wide 7.5-inch size needs support edge to edge.

Five sizes from 3.50 by 2.12 inches at 7,657 stitches up to 7.50 by 4.52 inches at 16,980 stitches. Message me if something looks wrong with the file and Ill take a proper look.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
