The whole portrait uses a single colour and thats kinda what makes it so striking. Fine continuous lines trace the womans face in profile, the curve of her jaw, the bridge of the nose, a gentle brow, and her natural hair sits in a full round shape above. No fill, just the line work. It really reminds me of those editorial fashion illustrations where one drawn line says more than any filled shape could.
Only 1 colour thread needed, so theres no stops for colour changes mid-stitch. The lines run as satin columns in narrow widths which gives them that smooth raised look rather than a flat running stitch. Youll change the whole feel just by choosing a different thread colour. Black on cream linen looks like a gallery print. Gold on dark navy is gorgeous.
Seven sizes from 2.91 inches wide up to 4.85 inches, and the height goes 7.5 wide reach so its a tall portrait design. Stitch count sits between about 15k and 23k depending on size. I get messages all the time asking if this works on a tee and yes, it does, especially on jersey fabric with a cutaway stabiliser behind it. One customer last autumn stitched it on a cream cotton tote and said she gets stopped in the street asking about it.
Use tearaway behind woven cotton or linen for the smaller sizes. Go with cutaway for any stretch jersey or knit. Avoid busy patterned fabrics since the fine lines need a clean background to read properly. Pop a topping layer of water-soluble film over any texture like terry or fleece so the line details dont sink into the pile.
Send me a message with your order number if anything looks off with the file and ill sort it same day.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Canvas tote bagsOn a plain cream or natural canvas tote it looks like something from a design boutique rather than a craft project.
- Fashion tees and crop topsA medium size on the chest of a plain white or black tee gives a fashion-forward look that goes beyond typical printed shirts.
- Framed wall art hoopsMounted in a wooden hoop on cream linen it becomes wall art you could hang in a bedroom or living room.
- Linen cushion coversCentred on a linen cushion cover in black thread it adds a sculptural graphic quality to a plain sofa cushion.
- Denim jacket pocketsStitched onto the chest pocket of a denim jacket it gives the jacket a unique handmade identity without overwhelming it.
- Bookbag front panelsOn the front panel of a plain backpack or bookbag it is subtle enough for everyday use but distinctive enough to get noticed.
- Natural cotton apronsOn a natural cotton or linen apron it lifts the whole thing from plain utility to something you would actually keep as a keepsake.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
