Worked up a proper 5 colour portrait of a woman in side profile, actual face detail visible and a big natural afro that takes up almost as much space as the figure itself. The face has real features stitched in with layered satin sections, its not just a flat shape. The afro uses directional fill so it looks like actual hair rather than a solid black patch.

Stitch range runs 14,501 at the smallest 3.44 inch size all the way up to 48,861 at 7.37 inches wide. Five colour changes through the run and a density of 884. Youll want a solid cutaway stabiliser under it, especially at the bigger sizes, theres alot of dense fill in the face and hair areas. Anything less than proper backing and youre looking at puckering.

Customers have been buying it for apparel and wall art in roughly equal numbers. A customer told me last spring she stitched it on black velvet for a framed piece and it looked like a painting, that genuinely suprised me how well it came out. Five colours, thats what makes the difference here.

Best results on plain cotton, canvas or denim in a neutral or dark ground colour. Use a cutaway stabiliser without question. Avoid light fabrics that show topping residue since the dense afro section needs heavy underlay to sit flat.

Text me any questions about thread colour substitutions, Ive done it in bronze and gold aswell and it changes the whole feeling of the piece.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
