The afro shape is what makes this silhouette really work. Its not just a generic woman profile, that big beautiful rounded crown of natural hair gives the whole design its identity. The body and face are a clean solid fill and the afro sits on top with that perfect round shape that reads instantly from across the room.

Just one colour thread which keeps it bold and graphic. Theres no complexity in the thread sequence, you load up and go, and the single satin fill does alot of heavy lifting with the directional stitching catching the light differently across the curves. At the 2.5 inch size its sharp enough for collar details and cap fronts. And at 5.4 inches wide on a tote bag or jacket it has real presence.

Five sizes available, stitch count ranges from 7,500 at the smallest up to about 28,000 at the 5.44 inch size. Back with tearaway on cotton and canvas, cutaway on any stretch fabric. The silhouette has clean hard edges so hoop tension is important to keep those lines crisp. One of my customers stitched this in gold thread on a black cotton bucket hat last summer and it looked incredible.

Pop it on plain tees, canvas totes, denim jackets, aprons or caps. Looks best where the fabric colour does the contrasting work, dark thread on light fabric or white thread on dark fabric both work beautifully. Skip mid-range grey on grey situations where the contrast isnt strong enough to read.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Canvas tote bag front panelStitch the 4-in run on the front of a plain cream canvas tote for a bold Black art-inspired bag that turns heads.
  • Denim jacket chest or backOn the back panel of a denim jacket the 5 inch version fills the space perfectly and has a strong graphic presence.
  • Natural hair salon apronUse the medium size on the bib of a salon apron for a natural hair salon as a brand mark that means something to clients.
  • Black cotton cap frontThe 2.5 inch smallest size on the front panel of a black cotton bucket hat in gold thread is a standout combination.
  • Empowerment gift pouch setStitch a set of 3 inch versions on plain cotton gift pouches for an empowerment-themed birthday or celebration gift set.
  • Unisex tee left chestPop the 3-in build on the left chest of a plain tee for a wearable statement piece that goes with almost everything.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
