Theres something genuinely suprising about how well afro hair stitches up in embroidery. The big round afro here uses layered satin fills that actually give the hair volume and bounce, its not just a flat dark circle. The figure itself sits in a fashion illustration style, confident pose, stylish outfit, accessories. Not a cartoon, not overly simplified. 13 colours and the skin tone sections stack in layers to get actual depth rather than just one flat block of brown.
5 sizes from 3.42 inches to 7.33 inches, stitch count 21,320 at the smallest and 61,619 at the largest. Youre looking at alot of layered fill work in the bigger sizes so use a proper cutaway stabiliser. The stitch density is 1,121 which is on the higher side and youll feel the weight of it when it comes off the hoop.
I get messages every week from people who stitch this for women celebrating natural hair journeys. One customer told me she made it for her daughter's first locs installation day. Thats the kind of story that makes me keep digitising designs like this.
Stitch on cotton, canvas, denim or fleece. Avoid pale or pastel backgrounds, the warm skin tones read much better against white, black, deep navy or burgundy fabric. Use a topping on fleece to keep the fill sections clean. Pick the 7 inch version for a jacket back or centred tote and the smaller ones for sleeve or pocket details.
Text me through the shop contact if anything goes wrong on the download and Ill have it fixed same day.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
