This is one of those designs where the concept does the heavy lifting. Left side is a sunflower, proper outlined petals, filled centre, a lil stem and leaves hanging off the bottom. Right side is a collection of hairdressing tools, scissors, a round brush, a comb, some hair clips and bobby pins. Put them together and the negative space between them forms a heart. You dont see it immediately and then you suddenly do.
Punched the file in professional digitising software, 5 sizes ranging from 2.75 inches wide up to 5.89 inches, and stitch counts going from 5,824 at the small end to 12,897 at the largest. 3 colours and nine sizes listed in the wider range but this file runs on a single black thread with 31 trims, no colour swaps needed. The density sits at a light 292 which means it stitches fast and sits flat even on thinner fabrics.
A customer asked me last spring if I had anything for hairdresser gifts and I couldnt find the right combination anywhere, which is why I made this. The sunflower adds warmth to what would otherwise be a very cold tools-only design. Pair it with an apron, a tote, or a salon smock and the whole thing just makes sense. Its a lovely gift piece for a hairdresser who ya know, also has a thing for flowers.
Pop firm cutaway anything with stretch. The tool shapes have some fine detail in the scissors and comb teeth so a topping film helps those stay crisp on textured fabrics. Black thread on a white or cream background is the cleanest look, but black on dark denim with a topping gives a really nice raised outline effect aswell. Skip polyester satin fabric entirely because the bobbin tension goes weird with fine outlines at this low stitch density. Pick a plain woven fabric and youre good.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Custom aprons and smocks for hairdressers and salon staffThe design fits perfectly on a chest pocket or bib area of a salon apron, the heart shape reads well even at the 3-inch size.
- Gift tote bags for hairdresser appreciation giftsA plain canvas tote with this stitched on the front is the kind of gift a hairdresser will actually use rather than put in a drawer.
- Hair salon uniform embellishments on collar or chestUniform shirts in white or black both work, the heart composition reads at a glance and people always ask about it.
- Iron-on patches for beauty school studentsStudents love having something personalised on their kit bag or cape that shows the craft they are learning.
- Hoop-mounted gift for a salon waiting room wallMounted in a 6-inch hoop with cream linen backing this becomes wall decor that suits the modern salon aesthetic.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
