A denim apron is honestly where this one lives. Hoop it at chest height, run it in black and gold thread on a piece of sturdy canvas twill, and the rooster just pops right off the fabric like he owns the place. That crazed golden crest explodes upward in directional satin stitches, feathers fanning out in rust orange and cobalt blue across his chest, with a teal-green tail that fans behind him. Red comb, angrier-than-necessary expression. The chunky black lettering beside him is bold satin-fill, no messing about.

Its a complex stitch job, no question. Im talking 6 colours, dense tatami fill on the body, underlay to keep that jersey from puckering, and the kind of detail that needs cutaway stabiliser underneath so nothing shifts mid-hoop. The 5 inch version sits really well on a tote bag front panel without crowding the handles. Cut-resistant thread on the lettering keeps those serifs tight after washing. Dont skimp on the topping if youre going on terry cloth or fleece.

I been getting orders on this one from backyard chicken keepers who run little craft-fair stalls and want something funny but actually well made for their sweatshirts and market bags. Last week someone asked for it on a linen-cotton kitchen towel and honestly that might be the best use Ive found yet. The rooster fills the lower third, lettering rides the right side, and theres enough breathing room that it dosent look crammed.

Hoop your stabiliser snug, center the design so the birds feet land about 1.5 inches above the bottom seam, and stitch the body before the lettering. Pick a medium-weight cutaway for knits, woven tearaway for canvas or denim. Pair it with a cream or charcoal background and the gold in that crest will sing.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Denim apronThe 5 inch drops onto a bib apron without crowding the pocket seam, big enough to read the lettering from across a kitchen.
  • Canvas tote bagTote bags take the 6 inch nicely, rooster on the front, lettering lines up clean across mid-panel canvas.
  • Sweatshirt frontRuns clean across a sweatshirt chest on medium-weight fleece with cutaway underneath, no puckering.
  • Kitchen linen towelKitchen towels in linen-cotton blend hold the tatami fill well, just use a light tearaway and go slow on the lettering.
  • Zip-up hoodie chestA hoodie left chest suits the 4 inch well, enough room for the rooster detail to read clearly without losing that angry red comb.
  • Baseball cap back panelBaseball cap back panels suit the 3.5 inch version, compact but the angry expression still comes through clearly.
  • Farmer's market toteFarmers market tote bags in natural canvas are kinda the perfect home for this one, especially in black thread on cream fabric.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
