The quote reads 'it's a good day to read a book' in a hand-lettered style with 3 colours and nine sizes available, ranging from 3.09 inches up to 6.62 inches wide. The lettering has that slightly uneven, casual feel you get with real hand script, not a rigid typeface. Set up the file in Wilcom, stitch counts run from 11,416 to 22,091 so its lighter than it looks and stitches up fast.

I get a bunch of orders for this one from librarians and teachers. One customer last spring ordered it on twelve tote bags for her school reading club and said they turned out brilliant. Thats the kind of project this was made for.

Pop it on a cotton canvas tote or a linen tea towel and ya dont need much stabiliser at all. Tearaway works fine on woven fabrics, just back it with a medium weight and youre good. The 3 colour thread setup keeps the colour changes to a minimum so you dont end up wrestling with your machine mid-stitch.

Cream, sage, and navy are my favourite background colours for this one. The lettering reads clean against light neutrals and the script weight is generous enough that it wont disappear on medium tones either. Skip dark charcoal unless you go with a light thread colour on top.

Stitch density is 445 which is quite low for a text design, meaning the fill areas arent stiff. Great for soft items like pillowcases and flour sack kitchen towels where you want the fabric to stay drapey after washing.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Library and school book club tote bagsPerfect for reading club totes, the 6 inch size fills a standard tote front nicely without overwhelming.
  • Tea towels and kitchen linenStitches beautifully on cotton flour sack towels, low density keeps the fabric soft after washing.
  • Reading nook pillow coversCentre it on a cream or natural linen pillow for a cosy reading corner look.
  • Teacher gift bags and pouchesTeachers love this one on canvas zip pouches or reusable bags, easy to order in small batches.
  • Bookworm-themed sweatshirtsGo with the 4 to 5 inch version for a clean bookish sweatshirt chest placement.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
