The yellow lily sits front and centre, its 6 petals fanning out with directional satin stitching that follows each petal's natural flare. Behind it and slightly offset sits a second lily in terracotta-brown, its petals curving differently so the two blooms dont compete. Then to the side you get small five-petalled wildflowers in hot pink, tight little things kinda like cosmos or garden pinks in scale, and the berry clusters on thin stems rising above the main canopy.
Six colours in sequence. Green foliage first, then yellow, terracotta, pink, the accent orange bud, then black for stamens and outlines. Wilcom for digitising, so the underlay is properly mapped and the satin stitching wont gap after washing. At 7 inches the count hits about 17,000 stitches which is dense but handles well on mid-weight fabric.
Pair no-show mesh cutaway with most base fabrics. Long satin stitches need the stabiliser to stay flat, skip lightweight lawn or batiste and youll get puckering. Woven cotton, linen, denim and canvas are all fine. Hoop firm and pop a topping layer on any textured linen or waffle weave before you run it.
A customer who sews floral tote bags as a small side business messaged me last summer about the 5-inch size. She sewed it on natural canvas in the original thread colours, said the terracotta-yellow combination against the raw canvas looked like something from a botanical print shop. Best on mid to light base fabrics where the warm colour palette can breathe. Skip very dark bases, the yellow reads poorly on navy or black without a backing stitch.
